Earlier this week, former President Donald Trump stated that Melania Trump is unable to discuss the assassination attempt on his life because it is so upsetting to her.
In an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Monday, he stated that Melania was “watching live” at the time of the incident and that she is currently unable to talk about it with anyone.
She was observing in real time. It’s okay that she can’t truly discuss it. She must like me based on that. She adores me. In reference to Melania’s first response, the 45th president continued, “When I went down, she thought the worst had happened because I went down and grabbed my ear and my hand was loaded up with blood.”
Twenty-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump, but a Secret Service counter sniper team quickly engaged and killed him.
The incident left one rallygoer dead and two others injured; both have since been released from the hospital. On Capitol Hill, the Secret Service has come under fire from both parties for not securing the building’s roof before Crooks opened fire. Despite being warned about the potential assassin prior to Trump taking the stage, the CIA has also come under fire for failing to locate him.
Regarding the Secret Service, Trump stated, “There should have been communication with the local police, which there was not.” “So that’s a bad thing, and they were seeing this guy everywhere—he was a really disturbed person.”
Additionally, Trump has declared that he will disregard the Secret Service’s advice to cease holding rallies outside. He told Ingraham, “Yeah, I’m going to do rallies [outside],” adding that he thought it was “important symbolically.” In Butler, that will entail hosting another rally outside.
After Kimberly Cheatle resigned following a House hearing where she was subjected to rigorous questioning and found it difficult to explain specific communication problems that preceded the July 13 shooting, Ronald Rowe took over as interim Secret Service Director last week.
“The hearing comes one day after the FBI released new details about its investigation into the shooting, revealing that the gunman, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, had searched the internet for information about power plants, improvised explosive devices, mass shootings, and the Slovakian prime minister’s May assassination attempt,” the Associated Press said.
