Since its start in 1998, the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor has been given to many famous American actors, most recently Kevin Hart. They include Whoopi Goldberg, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, and Will Ferrell. Bill Murray, who is known for his parts in “Ghostbusters” and “Groundhog Day,” performed at the 2016 ceremony. The level of Miley Cyrus’s show was out of this world when she started the party by singing “My Way” by Frank Sinatra.

Miley’s version starts out like Sinatra’s 1969 hit: with a big piano playing in the background, the song’s waltz-like beat accented by the vocal runs of a pop star, and funny asides snuck in between lines. Bill Murray was sitting in the crowd and had tears in his eyes as Miley took the stage. He gave her a standing ovation after her first line.
