Shiloh Jolie-Pitt files to have ‘Pitt’ removed from her surname on her 18th birthday

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were once the epitome of a Hollywood power couple, but since their 2019 divorce, their relationship has deteriorated into undeniable animosity. Once dubbed ‘Brangelina’ by the press, the former couple now finds themselves embroiled in ongoing legal battles and media-fueled disputes.

As recently as April, Jolie submitted papers to the Los Angeles Superior Court accusing Pitt of physical abuse, allegations Pitt has vehemently denied. Additionally, they remain at odds over the sale of a French winery they purchased during their marriage.

In a recent development, their children have taken steps to distance themselves from Pitt. Reports surfaced that Vivienne, one of their children, had dropped ‘Pitt’ from her last name. Now, it’s Shiloh who has taken a more official approach. According to TMZ, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt celebrated her 18th birthday earlier this week by filing paperwork to legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie. This action, taken on the very day she turned 18, indicates that removing ‘Pitt’ from her name was a top priority upon reaching legal adulthood.

The name change hasn’t been finalized yet, but it seems imminent. Shiloh is one of Jolie and Pitt’s six children, but she isn’t the only one distancing herself from her father. Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 15, was recently listed in the official Playbill for The Outsiders, a show her mother produced, as Vivienne Jolie. Similarly, 19-year-old Zahara reportedly also goes by Zahara Jolie, and their oldest sibling, Maddox, 22, does not use ‘Pitt’ in his surname either.

Currently, Shiloh is the only child to legally seek a name change, but the overall message is clear: they appear to be siding with their mother amidst the ongoing parental conflict.

In addition, Pax, another of their children, publicly criticized Pitt in a resurfaced Instagram post from 2020. Pax allegedly wrote, “You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell. You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want, but the truth will come to light someday.” He concluded his post with a harsh rebuke: “So Happy Father’s Day, you f*****g awful human being.”

These actions by Jolie and Pitt’s children underscore the strained relations within the family. As their legal battles and personal conflicts continue to unfold in the public eye, the once iconic family dynamic of ‘Brangelina’ has irrevocably changed.
