In a recent interview with Extra, actress Lily Gladstone discussed how her Killers of the Flower Moon co-star Leonardo DiCaprio was quite encouraging when she became the first Native American to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Despite not being nominated, Leonardo DiCaprio complimented her and conveyed his pride. Gladstone gushed about how he acted the part and how he made her life simpler on set.

Leonardo DiCaprio thanked Gladstone and the film for their nominations in an Instagram post. The Osage Nation faces hardships following the discovery of oil on their territory in 1920s Oklahoma in this film directed by Martin Scorsese, which is based on a true story. Leonardo DiCaprio portrays Ernest Burkhart, the husband of Mollie Burkhart, and Gladstone plays Mollie.

Before obtaining this breakthrough part, Gladstone revealed that she nearly gave up on her acting career. Enrolling in a community college course was on her mind, and she had even entertained the idea of working as a “murder hornet” tracker for the Washington Department of Agriculture. But her career took a dramatic turn when Scorsese sent her a Zoom invitation at the last minute.
