Michael Strahan’s daughter, Isabella, is facing a challenging battle with brain cancer, a heartbreaking revelation that the 19-year-old and her father shared in a candid interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America.

Isabella, currently a student at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in October 2023 after experiencing persistent headaches during her first year of college.

“I didn’t notice anything was off till probably like Oct. 1,” Isabella shared with Roberts. “That’s when I definitely noticed headaches, nausea, couldn’t walk straight.”

Initially attributing her symptoms to vertigo, her concern deepened when she woke up one day in late October and began vomiting blood. Alarmed, she reached out to her sister, prompting the family to insist on a thorough medical examination.

Grateful for the doctor’s diligence, Michael emphasized, “Thank goodness for the doctor. I feel like this doctor saved her life because she was thorough enough to say, ‘Let’s do the full checkup.’”

Following various tests and scans, Isabella was directed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. It was there that doctors discovered a fast-growing tumor, the size of a golf ball, located at the back of her brain.

Recalling the moment he received the news, Michael expressed the surreal nature of the situation and the urgency he felt to get to Los Angeles. Isabella underwent surgery, followed by multiple rounds of radiation treatment and a month of rehabilitation.

Isabella shared a positive update on her journey, stating, “I got to ring the bell yesterday. It was great. It was very exciting because it’s been a long 30 sessions, six weeks.”

With the intention of breaking the silence surrounding her diagnosis, Isabella hopes to be a voice for others undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. “I hope to just kind of be a voice, and be [someone] who maybe [those who] are going through chemotherapy or radiation can look at,” she said.

Expressing his deep admiration for his daughter’s strength, Michael Strahan emphasized his belief that Isabella will overcome this challenge. “I literally think that in a lot of ways, I’m the luckiest man in the world because I’ve got an amazing daughter,” he said. “I know she’s going through it, but I know that we’re never given more than we can handle and that she is going to crush this.”
