Eric Dane, the actor beloved by millions as Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy and later known for his darker role as Cal Jacobs on Euphoria, has died.
He was 53.
Dane died on February 19, 2026, following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, his family confirmed.
“With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” his family said in a statement.
They said his final days were spent surrounded by close friends, his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, and their daughters, Billie and Georgia.
His family described his daughters as the center of his world.
