    Lost on an Alaskan Mountain, She Saw a White Shape Move

    Amelia Milling set out into Alaska’s mountain country seeking challenge, solitude, and the quiet satisfaction that comes from moving through difficult terrain under her own strength.

    She was an experienced hiker and understood the demands of remote travel. Even so, mountains have a way of reminding people that experience reduces risk but never removes it entirely.

    During her three-day trek, Amelia slipped while crossing snow and ice. She fell hundreds of feet down the mountainside before finally coming to a stop.

    The fall left her injured, shaken, and alone in a landscape where small mistakes can quickly become serious. What had begun as an adventure suddenly became a test of endurance, judgment, and patience.
