Zach Top Returns Home to Sing the National Anthem at the NFC Championship

Zach Top came full circle on Sunday night.

The Grammy-nominated country singer returned to his home state of Washington to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” ahead of the NFC Championship game at Seattle’s Lumen Field, where the Seattle Seahawks faced the Los Angeles Rams with a Super Bowl LX berth on the line.

For Top, a native of Sunnyside, Washington, the moment carried special weight. Raised on a 20,000-acre ranch, the “I Never Lie” singer has never hidden his pride in where he comes from—and singing the national anthem for his home-state team was one of those career moments that hits a little deeper.

Ahead of the performance, Top shared his excitement in a short video online, saying:

“Very honored, very excited. Let’s go, 12s. Let’s go, Hawks.”

When the time came, Top stood at midfield, black cowboy hat in hand, wearing a jacket in support of the Seahawks. His rendition was confident, traditional, and pitch-perfect—earning immediate praise from fans inside the stadium and viewers watching at home.

For many NFL fans, it was their first introduction to Zach Top. For longtime listeners, it was a proud moment seeing one of country music’s fastest-rising traditionalists on such a massive stage. Social media quickly filled with reactions applauding his performance, with some even jokingly calling for Top to land a future Super Bowl halftime show slot.

Sunday night wasn’t Top’s first time performing the national anthem on a national stage. In 2023, he sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, later returning in 2024 to headline the opening night with a full concert. He also made his NFL anthem debut in 2024, performing before a Cincinnati Bengals vs. Philadelphia Eagles game at Paycor Stadium.

Still, singing the anthem in Seattle—surrounded by the roaring 12s and representing his home state—felt different.

It was a reminder of just how far Zach Top has come, and how naturally he fits into moments that blend tradition, patriotism, and country music’s roots.
