The chart-topping Christian artist led worship both behind the scenes and center stage at a major PBR event.

“People might know you for the ride,” Brandon Lake told a group of cowboys at Madison Square Garden. “But God’s watching how you handle the room — not just the one you’re about to walk into with thousands of people, but this one right here backstage.”

So what did they do with the room?

With Brandon leading the way — fresh off releasing his country duet with Cody Johnson, “When A Cowboy Prays” — the cowboys worshipped Jesus Christ together.

The moment happened Sunday, January 11, backstage at the PBR Unleash The Beast Buck Off. Lake’s visit with competitors, along with his live performance, took place just before Round 3 kicked off at the iconic New York venue.

    Worship In The Arena

Performing in front of an estimated 42,000 fans — plus viewers streaming via Paramount Plus — Lake led the arena in worship with “When A Cowboy Prays.” While the full performance hasn’t been released yet, clips from the night are already circulating online.

Before the arena filled, Lake also led worship backstage for the riders. A video shared on social media shows competitors gathered together as he sang his song “Gratitude,” creating a powerful, quiet moment before the chaos of competition.

    Bulls, Billboards, And Family Moments

Lake also took time to meet some of the bulls during his visit — because you can’t come to PBR and skip that part.

While in New York, he brought his kids to Times Square, where they spotted a massive billboard promoting his duet with Cody Johnson. In a lighthearted clip, his kids hilariously asked if they’d get to see fellow Christian artist Phil Wickham instead of their dad.

And to cap off the whirlwind trip, Lake appeared on Good Morning America, performing his hit song “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

From backstage prayer to arena-wide worship, it was a weekend that proved the message didn’t stop at the gate — it rode straight into the spotlight.
