Brianna Chickenfry’s Subtle Clapback Has Fans Linking Her Taylor Swift Video To “Skin”

It’s probably fair to assume that Brianna Chickenfry has heard “Skin,” and yes… she likely thinks it’s about her.

Zach Bryan dropped his new album With Heaven On Top today, and one track in particular has everyone buzzing: “Skin.” The song seems to take aim at his ex, Brianna Chickenfry. “Aim” might be a bit dramatic, but at the very least, he doesn’t shy away from addressing what sounds like a pretty unhealthy relationship.

The two had a very public breakup in fall 2024, and while Brianna has spent the past year and a half openly discussing it, Zach stayed almost completely silent — until now. Fans quickly connected the dots thanks to a few lyrical references, especially when Bryan brings up tattoos. Brianna previously revealed that Zach got ink related to her before they officially dated, and she later tattooed one of his lyrics on her arm.

In “Skin,” Bryan makes it clear he wants to erase any physical reminder of her, describing himself as willing to cut away his old tattoos just to sever that connection for good — and emphasizing that he has no intention of ever going back.

Later in the song, Bryan shifts the focus, suggesting that Brianna wasn’t blameless in how things fell apart. He hints that she speaks poorly about the people around her, which some fans believe could be a subtle nod to her falling out with longtime best friend Grace O’Malley shortly after the breakup.

That said, Bryan doesn’t let himself off the hook either. He closes the verse by acknowledging his own faults and admits he’s trying to take responsibility and work on himself — this time with a clear head.

Honestly, neither of them exactly comes off as a dream partner, and while both sides have thrown accusations, it’s pretty obvious they’re better off apart. Still, Brianna didn’t seem to miss the opportunity to fire back.

Not long after the album dropped, she posted a TikTok of herself getting ready to go out, lip-syncing to Taylor Swift’s “Actually Romantic” from The Life of a Showgirl. The song is all about sarcastically pointing out how an ex must still be obsessed because they can’t stop talking about you — even if they were a terrible partner. The timing alone made the message pretty loud and clear.

Taylor herself has explained the song as being about realizing someone has been fixated on you in a one-sided, almost adversarial way — living rent-free in their head — and reframing that resentment as affection. Brianna clearly seemed happy to lean into that interpretation.

And somehow, with these two, the drama just never seems to stop.

You can listen to “Skin” for yourself below and decide what you think.
