Warren Zeiders Strips It All Back With a Reverent Performance of “How Great Thou Art” on The Kelly Clarkson Show

Country Artist Releases Hymn to Refocus Christmas on Its True Meaning

Warren Zeiders’ newest single is his interpretation of one of the most enduring hymns ever written — a song that crosses borders, styles, and generations. His rendition of “How Great Thou Art,” though not traditionally a Christmas carol, is quickly becoming a meaningful addition to the season because of its message about Jesus.

The hymn, which originated in Sweden in the late 1800s, has been recorded countless times, yet Zeiders manages to bring a distinct edge to it. Known for blending rock influences with modern country, he leans into a powerful ballad approach that still honors the song’s sacred roots. For him, this project was deeply personal.

Released on October 31, Zeiders shared with fans that the hymn carries strong emotional ties to his family:

“I can’t tell you how many times this song has made me cry. It’s my father’s favorite hymnal, my grandmother’s favorite, and it reminds me of the grandfather I never had the chance to meet. When I finally got to play this version for my family, there were a lot of tears.”

Zeiders added that fans had been urging him for years to record his version, so he decided it would serve as his 2025 Christmas release.

While acknowledging the hymn isn’t typically associated with the holiday, he explained why he believes it fits:

“I think we can make it a Christmas song. When we gather with loved ones this season, we can use it to honor our Heavenly Father and celebrate what Christmas is really about.”

This release caps off what has been a milestone year for the 26-year-old singer. Over the summer, he visited the White House at the invitation of President Donald Trump, and later performed at the U.S. Army’s 250th Anniversary parade.

Zeiders recently returned to The Kelly Clarkson Show, where he performed “How Great Thou Art” on a festive stage backed by Kelly’s band, My Band Y’all. The appearance included lighthearted banter with Clarkson and a preview of his first-ever world tour.

Behind-the-scenes footage from the taping shows Zeiders talking about his Christmas plans and sharing moments from the visit.

He also delivered a moving performance of the hymn at the 2025 National Christmas Tree Lighting, held at the White House on December 4 — a fitting setting for a song centered on faith and reverence.

Zeiders later posted highlights from his trip to Washington, including photos with his parents during the tree-lighting celebration.
