Tim Conway’s Rookie Angel Chaos Has Harvey Korman Laughing So Hard He Nearly Falls Off the Cloud

Tim Conway as a Rookie Angel Has Harvey Korman in Stitches in a Hysterical Classic Sketch

Few duos in comedy history could unravel each other quite like Tim Conway and Harvey Korman — and one of their most unforgettable moments comes from a heavenly sketch on The Carol Burnett Show, where Conway plays a brand-new “rookie angel” assigned to share a cloud with Korman’s veteran celestial guide.

From the moment Tim steps off the cloud elevator, suitcase in hand, chaos begins.

He circles Harvey like a confused puppy, wearing a mix of innocence and sheer bewilderment on his face. Harvey tries to stay composed — he really does — but within seconds, you can see his jaw tighten, his shoulders shake, and that familiar battle begin: do not laugh, do not laugh, do not laugh…

He loses. Spectacularly.

What follows is a masterclass in physical comedy and comedic timing. Conway barely says a word — he doesn’t need to. A single glance, a hesitant shuffle, an awkward pause… it’s enough to send Harvey into another fit of unstoppable laughter. Every attempt Tim makes to “help” only creates more celestial disaster, from bungled cloud duties to innocent misunderstandings that push Harvey to the brink of comedic collapse.

This sketch highlights exactly why The Carol Burnett Show remains evergreen. Decades after it went off the air, fans still return to these clips for one simple reason: they capture comedy in its purest form — spontaneous, unforced, and joyously human. Conway didn’t just perform beside Korman; he launched him into orbit with laughter.

By the end of the scene, the audience is roaring, Harvey is wiping tears from his face, and Tim Conway stands there with that mischievous little grin that says:

“Oh, I knew exactly what I was doing.”

A reminder from the book of Job says, “Your mouth will be filled with laughter.”
This sketch fulfills that promise — every single time.
