The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular officially kicked off the Christmas TV season on Monday night (December 1), bringing two hours of music, magic, and Disney sparkle to living rooms across the country.

Hosted by Derek Hough, the annual celebration featured a star-packed lineup including Gwen Stefani, Iam Tongi, Aloe Blacc, Trisha Yearwood, and more. Hough himself stepped into the spotlight several times, delivering the kind of high-energy dance routines fans expect from the Emmy-winning performer.

But one of the standout moments of the night belonged to Trisha Yearwood.

Trisha Yearwood Shines With “My Favorite Things”

Yearwood delivered a stunning rendition of “My Favorite Things,” the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic from The Sound of Music. Originally introduced on Broadway and later immortalized by Julie Andrews, the song has become a seasonal standard thanks to its decades-long presence in December television programming.

It’s a tune countless artists have covered — from The Supremes and Kenny Rogers to Christina Aguilera — and now, Trisha Yearwood adds her warm, distinctive voice to that legacy.

Filmed earlier this year at EPCOT’s World Celebration Gardens, Trisha’s performance brought elegance and nostalgia to the Disney special, fitting perfectly into the night’s magical theme. Though The Sound of Music isn’t technically a Christmas movie, the song’s long association with the holiday season made it a natural choice for the event.

A New Christmas Era for Trisha Yearwood

“My Favorite Things” is one of twelve tracks on Yearwood’s brand-new 2025 holiday album, Christmastime. The record is packed with her favorite festive classics, including:

    • “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”

    • “Christmastime Is Here” from A Charlie Brown Christmas

    • “Blue Christmas” made famous by Elvis Presley

    • “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

It’s Yearwood’s first Christmas album since her 2016 project with husband Garth Brooks, and fans have already praised Christmastime for its cozy, nostalgic sound.

A Magical Start to the Season

Disney’s Holiday Spectacular continues to be a beloved tradition, blending music, Disney storytelling, and performances filmed across Disney parks. And this year’s edition—anchored by Yearwood’s graceful take on “My Favorite Things”—set a beautiful tone for the weeks of festive programming to come.
