Inside Ella Langley’s Family: Meet Jason and Heather Langley, the Parents Who Helped Shape a Country Star

Ella Langley’s rise in country music has looked fast to the outside world, but to her parents, Jason and Heather Langley, it’s simply the future they always knew was coming. Born in 1999 as the second of four siblings, Ella grew up in Hope Hull, Alabama, where her bold personality and love for performing showed up long before her powerhouse vocals ever reached Nashville.

Even as a toddler, Ella insisted on taking the microphone during church performances, and according to her family, she had the confidence of a headliner long before she ever stepped onto a real stage. That early spark eventually led her to Nashville in 2019 — a move her parents supported fully — and today, they remain some of her biggest cheerleaders as she continues to climb the country music ladder.

Here’s everything to know about Jason and Heather Langley, the family who raised one of country music’s most exciting young voices.

Jason and Heather Have Been Married Since 1998

Jason and Heather married on April 18, 1998, and have celebrated over two decades of life together. Heather often shares anniversary photos and throwbacks, reflecting the steady and supportive partnership that formed the foundation of the Langley household. Their long-standing marriage is a central part of the grounded family environment Ella grew up in.

Ella Is One of Four Siblings

    The Langleys raised four children:

    Thomas (1991)

    Ella (1999)

    Stuart (2001)

    Katie (2007)

The family lived on a farm just outside Montgomery. Growing up between two brothers shaped Ella’s personality and eventually her music. She often describes herself as a tomboy who spent much of her childhood keeping up with — and trying to outdo — the boys.

This brother-driven upbringing inspired her 2020 song “One of the Guys.”

A Family Full of Music — Especially Her Grandparents

Music ran deep on Jason’s side of the family. Ella’s paternal grandparents were musically gifted — her grandfather could play almost any instrument by ear, while her grandmother was also a singer. Family reunions often turned into singalongs, and Ella says these moments were some of her earliest memories of feeling drawn to music.

Her first guitar belonged to her grandfather. After he passed away, Jason restrung it and gifted it to Ella, who immediately began teaching herself how to play. That guitar is still one of her most personal possessions.

Ella later honored her grandparents with her song “Closest to Heaven,” inspired by one of the last conversations they shared before her grandfather’s passing.

Her Parents Exposed Her to Every Genre Imaginable

Jason and Heather’s home was filled with music — and not just country. Jason played classic rock, old-school country, and even disco during drives, while Heather introduced Ella to folk, alternative, grunge, and ’80s new wave.

This wide range of musical influences helped shape Ella’s signature sound: a blend of country storytelling, rock grit, and folk honesty.

Jason and Heather Fully Supported Ella Leaving College for Nashville

After high school, Ella attended Auburn University studying forestry while still performing in local bars. Eventually, she realized music was more than a hobby — it was her calling.

When she called her parents in 2019 to tell them she wanted to drop out of school and move to Nashville, they didn’t hesitate to support her. Heather encouraged her to view the move as a different type of education, and both parents have backed every step of her journey since.

They’ve attended her shows at the Grand Ole Opry and were present at the Country Music Hall of Fame’s “American Currents” exhibit that showcased Ella’s costume and tip jar from her early bar gigs.

Two of Ella’s Tattoos Are Inspired by Her Parents

Ella has several tattoos with personal meaning, including:

A bumblebee, inspired by Heather’s longtime nickname for her: “Ella Bee.”

The coordinates of her childhood home, a tribute to both parents and the place that shaped her.

Jason wasn’t initially thrilled about the bumblebee tattoo, joking about what it might look like if she ever wanted to teach Sunday school — but it remains one of Ella’s favorite sentimental pieces.

Jason and Ella Bond Over Hunting

Ella and her father share a longtime love for hunting. Over the years, she has posted photos of them on hunting trips together, calling him her “best hunting buddy.” Jason has said those trips were a meaningful part of their bond, often filled with music, long drives, and time spent outdoors.

Ella Bought Her First Home Close to Her Family

In 2025, Ella purchased a lakefront property in Montgomery, complete with a horse barn and plenty of space — and just minutes away from her parents.

She has said returning to Alabama helps her recharge and reconnect with who she is at her core. It’s also a creative haven where she feels most inspired to write her best songs.
