Megan Moroney’s CMA Performance Sparks Debate — And Fans Notice One Big Thing Missing
The video is nowhere to be found.
Last night, Megan Moroney walked into the 59th Annual CMA Awards as one of the night’s most-nominated artists. With six major categories on the line — Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year, Music Video of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year for “Don’t Mind If I Do” featuring Kenny Chesney — she had every reason to expect a career-defining night.
Instead, she left empty-handed… and facing a wave of online criticism after her performance of “6 Months Later”.
A Rough Moment on Country’s Biggest Stage
Megan co-wrote the heartbreak single with Ben Williams, David “Messy” Mescon, and Rob Hatch. The song has been a massive career milestone for her — debuting at #30 on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest start of her career.
But her CMA performance struggled.
Whether it was nerves, monitor issues, in-house audio problems, or simply a bad night, fans on X wasted no time pointing it out. Similar criticism hit her last year, and while performing live on national TV is terrifying even for seasoned veterans, this was not the reaction she needed during one of country music’s biggest nights.
Here’s the only circulating clip — and as fans noted, it’s rough.

To be fair, Megan has sounded significantly better in person. Anyone who’s seen her live knows she can sing — and sing well. This just… wasn’t the night.
The Mystery: Why Is Her Performance Missing Online?
Normally, CMA Awards performances appear quickly on the CMA YouTube channel or their official social platforms. Fans spent the morning searching for Megan’s full performance to rewatch (or analyze), only to notice something strange:
Her video is missing. Completely.

Fans are now openly speculating whether this was an oversight — or whether the CMA intentionally avoided posting the performance to shield her from negative comments.
Given that she was one of the most-nominated artists of the night, it wouldn’t be surprising if the team simply didn’t want the conversation becoming uglier than it already is.
A Tough Night — But Far From the End
If anything, this moment may end up serving as fuel for Megan’s next chapter. She’s already teased that her new album Cloud 9 is on the way, and a fresh single — performed under better circumstances — could shift the entire narrative.
Plenty of artists have had shaky award-show vocals. Almost no one sounds like Chris Stapleton every night. What matters is how you respond.
And Megan?
She’s proven she’s a fighter.
