Lainey Wilson Delivered Eight Show-Stopping Looks as the High-Fashion Host of the 59th CMA Awards

Lainey Wilson is one high-fashion host — and on Wednesday night, she proved it with undeniable flair. The 33-year-old singer-songwriter returned to Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to host the 59th Annual CMA Awards for the second year in a row, becoming the first solo female host in 34 years. And while her sharp wit and effortless charm carried the show, it was her eight dazzling outfit changes that turned the night into a full-fledged fashion event.

Wilson arrived on the red carpet in a head-turning turquoise Reem Acra jumpsuit with a matching sheer cape that floated behind her like a modern-day country goddess. The plunging neckline and intricate embellishments caught every camera flash, and she completed the look with metallic pumps and a perfectly coordinated turquoise cowboy hat. Her glam was soft and luminous, with loose blonde waves that gave the ensemble effortless balance.

From that moment on, Lainey set the bar sky-high — and she only pushed it higher. For her powerful on-stage performance, she changed into a puffy-sleeved white jacket covered in ornate metallic detailing, paired with matching flared pants and a belt buckle emblazoned with “CMA.” A crisp white cowboy hat and boots from her own Golden West line tied the look together. In a fun surprise, comedian Leanne Morgan stepped out beside her in a strikingly similar white outfit, creating a playful twinning moment.

Her next fashion switch brought a softer palette: a baby-blue halter dress with a dramatic high-low silhouette and feather-trimmed edges, layered over matching trousers and paired, naturally, with another perfectly coordinated cowboy hat. Shortly after, she reappeared alongside Billy Bob Thornton wearing a black Pamella Roland jumpsuit featuring a pink floral embroidered bustier — a mix of elegance and edge that landed flawlessly.

For her main musical performance of the night, Wilson stunned in a silver jumpsuit with cascading fringe sleeves that shimmered under the arena lights. A silver cowboy hat completed the bold, futuristic look. Later, she traded metallic glam for deep jewel tones, stepping onstage in a one-shoulder purple shawl paired with sparkling purple pants and a matching hat.

Her penultimate look featured a structured black jacket with oversized silver shoulder embellishments, worn with wide-leg black trousers and a sleek black hat — a powerful, commanding outfit befitting a woman running the show.

But it was her final look — worn to accept the coveted Entertainer of the Year award — that delivered the ultimate statement. Wilson closed the night in a long-sleeve camo-print jumpsuit cinched with an olive belt and accented with matching gloves. The black cowboy hat she wore featured a camo-print band, tying the entire look together in rugged, country-perfect glamour.

Already a nine-time CMA Award winner heading into the night, Wilson reflected on her historic hosting moment during Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast. “I looked it up too, and I was like, there’s no way,” she said of becoming the first woman since Reba McEntire in 1991 to host alone. “I let Reba know I was doing this, and she was so excited. I’m glad they trust me. I like to run my mouth, and I love country music.”

She also joked that she asked producers for one thing before rehearsals began: “If I can poke fun at people, hey, we good. Let me make fun of Luke Combs, please.”

The 59th Annual CMA Awards aired live on November 19 on ABC and is available for next-day streaming on Hulu — and thanks to Lainey Wilson’s stellar hosting and unforgettable fashion marathon, it’s a show people will be talking about for a long time.
