Michael Bublé Chooses 14-Year-Old Prodigy Max Chambers in The Voice Battle Round
Michael Bublé’s youngest team member may also be one of his brightest stars. During the October 20 episode of The Voice, 14-year-old Max Chambers faced off against Aarik Duncan in a Battle Round that showcased both singers’ extraordinary talent.
A Soulful Showdown
For their duet, Bublé chose the timeless Bill Withers and Grover Washington Jr. classic “Just the Two of Us” — the perfect track to highlight each contestant’s tone and artistry.
Advisor Kelsea Ballerini was instantly impressed during rehearsals, admiring Duncan’s “warmth and richness” while praising Chambers’ “sweet voice.”
As the performance neared, Bublé reflected on the tough decision ahead:
“It’s going to come down to the performance and me having the integrity to make an honest decision. Who was the best that day?”
That question became harder than expected once both singers delivered a showstopping duet.
Coaches Weigh In
Following the Battle, Snoop Dogg praised both contestants, saying they were talented enough to stay in the competition — but ultimately gave the edge to Chambers. Niall Horan agreed, while Reba McEntire favored Duncan.
Bublé applauded Duncan’s “gorgeous tonal quality” and marveled at Chambers’ effortless ability to “hit impressive notes.”
In the end, he made his call:
“Max has the ability and potential to become a star,” Bublé told the cameras.
With that, the young vocalist advanced to the next stage of the competition.
Meet Max Chambers: The Voice’s Young Rising Star
Though just 14 years old, Chambers is no stranger to the spotlight. Before joining The Voice, he portrayed a young Michael Jackson in Broadway’s MJ: The Musical.
That experience showed in his Blind Audition, where he wowed the coaches with a lively performance of the Jackson 5 hit “I Want You Back.” Both Bublé and Reba McEntire turned their chairs, but Chambers chose to join Team Bublé — a decision that’s clearly paying off.
What’s Next for Max
Chambers now advances to the Knockout Round, where each artist performs a solo piece against another teammate. Those who prevail will earn a spot in the Playoffs, bringing them one step closer to the Live Shows.
Fans can catch The Voice every Monday and Tuesday on NBC, where young stars like Max continue to prove that talent knows no age.
