Austin Gilbert and Rob Cole’s “Honey Bee” Battle Brings the Heart of Country to The Voice

Team Michael Bublé lit up The Voice stage when Austin Gilbert and Rob Cole faced off in a soulful, high-energy duet of Blake Shelton’s “Honey Bee.” The country showdown proved one of the most entertaining Battle Round performances of the season, earning praise from all four coaches — and ending with an emotional steal that melted hearts.

    A Perfect Country Matchup

Gilbert and Cole brought both charm and chemistry to their duet of Shelton’s 2011 hit. Backed by Cole’s acoustic guitar, their smooth harmonies turned the playful, romantic lyrics — “If you’ll be my soft and sweet / I’ll be your strong and steady” — into a moment that felt genuine and full of life.

The two artists traded lines effortlessly, blending Gilbert’s easy charisma with Cole’s pure, radio-ready tone. As one coach put it, it felt like “the spirit of Blake Shelton” had returned to The Voice stage.

Coaches React: “That Was Something Special”

Snoop Dogg couldn’t help but be moved, joking, “I felt the spirit of Blake Shelton when y’all was singing that… something in his seat moved my legs!” He praised Gilbert for his energy and crowd connection, calling him “the showman,” while complimenting Cole’s effortless control and vocal precision.

Niall Horan leaned toward Cole, comparing his tone to “some of my favorite country singers,” and adding that his clarity made every word land.

Reba McEntire, however, saw something special in Austin Gilbert — his enthusiasm and genuine country spirit. “You’re a cowboy,” she said warmly. “Your big heart and your gorgeous voice — that’s what country music’s all about.”

Bublé Makes His Choice — and Reba Steps In

Coach Michael Bublé praised both artists, admitting it was one of his toughest decisions yet. “Austin, your tone and pitch are perfect. Rob, I thought today was your best — you were just at ease,” he said before ultimately naming Rob Cole the winner.

Just when it seemed Austin’s journey was over, Reba McEntire hit her steal button, saving him in an emotional twist that brought the crowd to its feet. Holding back tears, she told him, “I loved everything about you. You had this childlike attitude — I just loved your voice. I think it’s really going to do well for my team.”

    A Heartfelt Ending

Overwhelmed with emotion, Gilbert pointed to his fiancée Brittni in the audience — who is expecting their first child — and said through tears, “Thank you so much for making my dreams come true.”

With Rob Cole advancing on Team Bublé and Austin Gilbert joining Team Reba, both artists proved they’re ones to watch as The Voice heads into the Knockouts.

Their Battle wasn’t just a competition — it was a reminder of what makes country music timeless: heart, harmony, and honesty.
