Steve Martin Clarifies Retirement Comments After Surprising Announcement

In a surprising turn of events, comedy legend Steve Martin — beloved for his iconic roles in Saturday Night Live, The Pink Panther, and Father of the Bride — recently hinted at retirement at age 75. The announcement sparked waves of nostalgia and sadness among fans who have followed his decades-long career of laughter and brilliance.

Martin, who currently stars in the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building alongside longtime collaborator Martin Short and pop star Selena Gomez, appeared to suggest that his role on the show might be his last major project.

However, the actor and comedian quickly clarified his comments, telling The Hollywood Reporter:

“It’s a little overstated. I’m not actively looking for new projects, but I’m not walking away either.”

While Martin isn’t planning to take on new long-term commitments, he emphasized that he will continue performing as opportunities arise — just with a scaled-back schedule.

    A Legacy of Laughter

From his slapstick genius in The Jerk to his witty stand-up, from banjo performances to bestselling books, Martin’s career has spanned film, television, music, and literature. His influence on American comedy remains unmatched.

Whether or not he takes on future projects, fans agree: Steve Martin’s body of work already cements him as one of the greatest entertainers of all time.
