Megan Moroney Clears the Air on Riley Green Rumors
About a month ago, country fans lit up social media with speculation after Megan Moroney and Riley Green were spotted vacationing in St. Barts at the same time. Photos and clips had people convinced the two were a new couple — but Moroney is finally setting the record straight.
In a recent Rolling Stone feature, the Georgia native opened up about her career, her personal life, and all the rumors that seem to follow her.
From “Tennessee Orange” to Fan Speculation
Megan first sparked headlines a couple years ago when she released Tennessee Orange, wearing Morgan Wallen’s shirt on the single artwork. She eventually admitted the shirt was his, and while they had a brief fling, she says the two are simply on good terms now:
“As much as it is my story, it’s their story, too… I just have respect for the other artist because they’re public, too.”
More recently, Moroney shared she was in a year-long relationship with a “regular finance dude,” but has been single for about a year — and happy about it:
“I could not imagine going through the past year if I was upset and crying over a dude… I feel like I’ve always had bad taste in men.”
On Riley Green: “Just Because We’re Hanging Out…”
When pressed on her connection with Riley Green, Moroney said their overlap in St. Barts was nothing more than coincidence:
“He was individually on his vacation with his friends. St. Barts is a popular place! If you know someone on a small island, you’re like, ‘Oh, sh*t, you’re here too.’ So it was fun. Just because we’re hanging out doesn’t mean we’re romantically dating.”
Riley himself has said recently that he’s “pretty damn single.” Still, fans have been quick to link him with Moroney, and now — since he’s back on tour with Ella Langley — the rumor mill has shifted gears once again.
Taking It in Stride
Despite constant speculation about her love life, Moroney isn’t bothered by the attention:
“I don’t blame them for doing some FBI research.”
It’s a grounded perspective, given how invested fans have become. And while the St. Barts storyline may not be the romance fans hoped for, Moroney is focused on her career — and letting people draw their own conclusions.
After all, as one fan joked online: what happens in St. Barts stays in St. Barts.
