Ella Langley’s Wink at a Fan’s Riley Green Joke Goes Viral — and He Wasn’t Exactly Amused
It seems Riley Green didn’t quite laugh along when Ella Langley winked at a fan’s joke during one of her recent shows.
While performing, the “Weren’t for the Wind” singer spotted someone in the crowd holding up a phone with a message that read:
“Wink if Riley’s a dumba–.”

Without missing a beat, Langley shot the fan a big, theatrical wink. The crowd erupted, and so did the internet. But Riley? Not so much.
Riley Texts Her the Next Day
In a recent interview with Backstage Country, Langley shared how Green reacted:
“He texted me the next day, like, ‘That video is not the sweetest thing I’ve seen.’”
Langley, known for her sarcastic streak, admitted she had to explain herself.
“I was like, ‘Okay, hear me out,’” she laughed. “I’m a jokester. I live on the dark side of humor — and he knows that about me.”
According to Langley, she didn’t respond as “Ella Langley the artist,” but just as her goofy, unfiltered self.

“It was just me playing into a joke. I wasn’t trying to stir anything up.”
Still, she realized mid-wink that the sea of phones filming would probably turn it into something bigger — and it did.
“I knew I’d get ripped a new one,” she said. “But I meant it playfully. Personally, I’d see it as endearing.”
Dating Rumors Still Swirl
Although neither artist has confirmed any kind of romantic relationship, fans haven’t stopped speculating — especially after the undeniable chemistry on their duet “You Look Like You Love Me.”
Langley has poked fun at the rumors online, while Green even chimed in with a tongue-in-cheek “Phew! Good news” GIF in the comments.
So are they dating? The jury’s still out. But one thing is clear: if you bring a joke to an Ella Langley concert, be prepared — she just might wink back.
