On Monday (September 25), The Voice kicked off a new chapter — its very first season without Blake Shelton in his iconic red chair.
Shelton had announced back in October 2022 that Season 23 would be his last. After twelve years and nine wins, the country star decided it was time to step away from the spotlight and focus on life off-camera — including more time with his wife and fellow coach Gwen Stefani, and his stepsons. With his exit, The Voice officially said goodbye to its final original coach since the show’s 2011 debut.
But as they say, the show must go on — and it did. Still, the void he left was unmistakable. Especially for Gwen Stefani.
Gwen Stefani Paid a Quiet Tribute — Close to Her Heart
Returning to the panel this season, Stefani brought her usual flair. Dressed in a chic black-and-white checkered outfit with a high ponytail tied in a bow, she looked every bit the style icon.
Yet, it was her jewelry that stole the moment. Around her neck were gold necklaces bearing the names “Stefani” and “Shelton” — a subtle but touching tribute to her husband, making his absence all the more poignant.
This isn’t the first time Stefani has honored her loved ones through fashion. At her 2021 wedding to Shelton, her custom veil featured embroidered names — hers, his, and those of her three sons.
Season 24 of The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. CT on NBC.
While the premiere may have lacked Blake’s trademark wit and banter, it didn’t fall short on talent. With powerful performances and multiple four-chair turns, it’s shaping up to be an exciting season. Stay tuned.
