Kelly Clarkson took to the most famous passenger seat in the land for an unforgettable Carpool Karaoke segment, and true to form, she made even supermarket shopping worthy of a tune.

Has it really been 15 years since Kelly Clarkson won American Idol? It sure has, and yet the singer has managed to avoid the pitfalls that often follow reality show fame, making a lasting impact on the music industry without any major scandals.

In her Carpool Karaoke appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Clarkson proves that her talent knows no limits. Even the most mundane of tasks, like asking “Do you want the receipt or shall I put it in the bag?” sounds better when Clarkson sings it. James Corden challenges her to take a standard shopping query and turn it into something incredible, and she nails it with ease.

Singing snippets of hits like “Since U Been Gone,” “Because of You,” and “Stronger,” Clarkson makes every moment a showstopper. We couldn’t help but laugh and request, “Unexpected item in the bagging area,” for her next album!

Corden does his best to keep up with Clarkson’s incredible vocal talent, harmonizing with admirable effort. The two chat about Clarkson’s childhood dreams and the fact that she’s name-checked in Hillary Clinton’s book, before picking up her husband and manager, Brandon Blackstock, for a “date night” in the back of the car.

Corden even arranges for a violinist to serenade the couple, though things take a humorous turn when Blackstock quips that the setup felt more like the prelude to a bad porn film, sending Clarkson into giggles.

With recent appearances by Pink, who showcased her own impressive voice while hanging upside down from gym equipment, we can only wonder if a new album of singers belting out strange sentiments in odd places might be in the works. After all, it’s nearly Christmas!
