On August 11, 2024, Post Malone surprised fans with a country performance during his set at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco, including a cover of Luke Combs’ hit song “When It Rains It Pours.” Known for his genre-blending style, Post delighted the crowd by taking on Combs’ upbeat anthem, a humorous recounting of a string of bad luck. Before performing, Post shared his admiration for Combs, calling him one of his inspirations, and dedicated the song to the crowd.
The performance struck a chord with fans of both artists, eager to see the rock-rapper’s country influences on full display. Post maintained the song’s fun, energetic vibe, and his unique spin on Combs’ signature storytelling led to a crowd-wide singalong.
This cover was part of a country-heavy setlist at Outside Lands, where Post also performed songs by country legends such as George Strait, Toby Keith, and Brooks & Dunn. His shift toward country music has been ongoing, with collaborations with country stars like Luke Combs further cementing his connection to the genre. This tribute hinted at his dedication to country, especially with the upcoming release of his country-inspired album, F-1 Trillion, which will feature more collaborations with country icons.
Post Malone’s performance at Outside Lands reflected the growing influence of country music across diverse genres. It also reinforced his role as a multifaceted artist, unafraid to explore new musical territories.
Fans of both Post Malone and country music praised his vocal delivery and genuine passion for the genre, making this cover one of the standout moments of the event. His performance demonstrated that his talents extend far beyond his usual hits, leaving listeners excited to see if he’ll continue to explore country music in the future.
