Donald Trump has signed the order

In a recent move to combat anti-Semitism, former President of the United States Donald Trump signed an executive order that has significant implications for international students and individuals who participate in pro-Palestinian demonstrations. This order authorizes the deportation of international students who participate in demonstrations that are perceived as anti-Israel. This order is in line with the administration’s larger strategy to address campus activities that are deemed to be supportive of organizations such as Hamas. The executive order, which was signed in late January 2025, directs federal agencies to identify and potentially revoke the visas of non-citizen students who are involved in such protests. The administration justifies this action by referring to immigration laws that permit the deportation of non-citizens who “endorse or espouse” terrorist organizations.
