Hidden meaning behind Kendrick Lamar’s chain in Super Bowl halftime show

The Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl thanks to their outstanding performance. Although there were plenty of pyrotechnics during the halftime spectacular, the actual game was never that close.

Reactions to Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance were not entirely unanimous. While some fans weren’t as impressed, others thought it was fantastic. A lot of the talk before the big event focused on how Kendrick would handle his ongoing feud with Drake, one of the biggest rivalries in hip-hop.

And during his performance, Kendrick Lamar did make a daring remark. The 37-year-old rapper wore a huge chain of diamonds and silver with a lowercase “a” on it when he performed at the Caesars Superdome.

The letter’s meaning was first ambiguous. However, people quickly realized that Kendrick was making fun of Drake.

What was meant by the letter A?
Kendrick raps, “Why you trollin’ like a b**h?,” in his explosive diss hit, “Not Like Us.” Aren’t you exhausted? attempting to hit a chord, which is most likely in A minor.*

Kendrick’s chain was a clear allusion to “A minor,” another subliminal shot at his longstanding competitor, and the question surrounding the “a” was suddenly resolved.

Social media fans were enraged by the diss:

One fan commented, “Kendrick Lamar’s use of a lowercase A (a minor) chain is diabolical.”

Another person remarked, “Kendrick Lamar said what he had to with that ‘a minor’ chain.”

For “a minor?,” Kendrick is sporting a diamond chain with a lowercase “a.” A hater of my sort!

Some even conjectured that Drake’s real first name, “Aubrey,” might be what the “a” stands for.

However, there were other shots fired as well. Serena Williams, a tennis legend and one of Drake’s well-known ex-girlfriends, was also mentioned by Kendrick. Williams’ Crip Walking took center stage, and the petty levels were through the roof.

Following the concert, Williams expressed her pleasure on X, now known as Twitter, but she made no mention of Drake. “How about we go to the Super Bowl halftime? “I kind of died!” she wrote.

Drake vs. Kendrick Feud Drake and Kendrick have been at war since 2023, and their disagreement only became worse after the release of Not Like Us. Drake filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group, alleging that the label assisted Kendrick in landing the Super Bowl halftime performance, just four months after the announcement.

Not Like Us was even charged in Drake’s lawsuit of depicting him as a pedophile. However, legal professionals weren’t sure the case would succeed.

“He’s the main artist, and this is a hit song,” entertainment lawyer Camron Dowlatshahi told The U.S. Sun. I’m pretty sure he’ll play it, then.

    And he did, rather clearly.

Kendrick is undoubtedly skilled at conveying his message, whether it is through unexpected guest appearances, jewelry, or lyrics. And many fans thoroughly enjoyed it. How did you feel about Lamar’s performance during halftime?
