Giant wolf sits down next to woman in viral moment

Kelly WhitewoodBy Kelly WhitewoodJanuary 26, 20252 Mins Read

Since wolves are known to be vicious and violent animals, many people—including myself—would be extremely terrified to actually see one in person.

Kekoa, which translates to “brave one” in Hawaiian, is the name of the big gray wolf that is first seen strolling with Danielle.

Kekoa does not fit the norm and is not exactly like other wolves.

She appears to have a lot of respect for people, especially a woman named Danielle, even if she still wants a certain amount of respect.

At the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, an animal sanctuary close to Colorado Springs, Kekoa leads a happy existence.

She is unable to survive in the wild, therefore she lives there like the other animals in the refuge.

A staff member named Danielle has formed an amazing bond with the big wolf.

I was astounded to see Kekoa and Danielle playing together for the first time. The scene is both wonderful and bizarre, especially when you consider how much larger Kekoa is than Danielle.

In addition to his noble and courageous appearance, he is a huge baby—I mean, very enormous! He is approximately 7 feet tall and weighs 115 pounds when he rests his front paws on a person’s shoulders.

When you think you’ve seen it all, Sakura, another wolf, shows up and wants to hug as well.

Michelle Smith, a staff member at The Dodo Wildlife Center, clarified in an interview:

He is extremely well socialized, which means he likes being around people, having been bottle fed and reared by people since birth. This is not the same as being tame or tamed. He still has a tendency to act like a “wild” animal toward his sister. This is not how a wolf would behave in the wild.

Here is the incredible video clip:

Wild wolves have not been found in Colorado since the 1940s, but it appears that they may soon be back.

Every year, the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center offers over 40,000 visitors educational, guided tours on wolves and their role in ecosystems.

Help the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center make a difference by sharing this story to increase awareness about wolves!
