Soldier husband sneaks into hospital to surprise wife visiting preemie twins in NICU

Being away from their families, sometimes thousands of miles, is one of the hardest sacrifices our service members make.

Fathers and mothers miss their children, boys miss their parents and siblings… Even the strongest can struggle with it.

Not just wishing you were with someone is the problem. Service members must miss weddings, funerals, and even births of loved ones.

Skyler Cooper likely thought of the latter during his seven months in Kuwait as a Kansas Army National Guard soldier. His wife Cydney was expecting and had two small sons, Leighton and Corbett, adding to the tension.

You see, Cydney was expecting twins. According to Her View From Home, Skyler was expected home in late April.

She was quite busy afterward with all the hospital commotion.

She said she was “hanging on by a string”.

She had no idea a pleasant surprise was coming. While holding one of her 2-week-old babies in the hospital, her husband texted to inquire how they were doing.

Skyler entered with an American flag balloon and flowers moments later.

Despite arranging the surprise for weeks, he couldn’t have guessed his wife’s reaction.

The event was emotional, as expected. Watch the video below with tissues:

“I was in shock,” Cydney told Good Morning America. I almost had to breathe again. I was relieved because I switched between our boys and girls so much.”

Be patient! It improves. The parents also surprised their two sons and recorded that:

“1000s of miles, 1 solo pregnancy and delivery, 48392 Skype calls, some superheroes, a few plane rides, 12 NICU days, tons of help from family and friends, and many tears later,” Cydney posted on Facebook “A soldier returned.”

We’re praying for this family and delighted you survived a difficult time!
