For Nancy her son Henry was everything, she never envisioned her life without him. It had been 23 years since the horrific accident that stole Henry’s life. On that particular day of the year, she would pay her respects to his memory by bringing his favorite pie to his grave. This year, however, everything was going to undergo a reversal.

On this date, Nancy, who is now 61 years old, has never missed a single day in the past 23 years. She made the pie that was her late son’s favorite, and ever since then, she has brought it to his grave every year. When Henry was a young boy, he would run into the kitchen immediately upon seeing the pie, and his eyes would light up with excitement. The aroma of apples and cinnamon brought back memories of that time.

Since Henry was killed in a sad accident when he was 17 years old, Nancy has been doing this ritual as a way to keep his memory alive.Because of this, she felt as though she was still doing something special for her son, which gave her a sense of connection to him. Losing him had been the toughest thing she had ever gone through. The anguish she felt on that day never went away.

Despite the passage of time, her grief persisted; the only thing that helped her cope with it was the passage of time and the small amount of solace that this tradition brought her.
