Beyoncé skipped the VMAs despite her latest album’s success. She may have missed the event because she shared artist insights before.

The Video Music Awards (VMAs) in Elmont, New York, drew many of the biggest music performers. Photogenic celebrities posed in gorgeous clothing. Despite being nominated for three prizes, Beyoncé was absent.

For her hit song “Countdown,” Beyoncé was nominated for Song of the Year, Best Trending Video, and VMAs Most Iconic Performance. Fans vote on the latter two categories, giving her fans direct power. She skipped the event despite these nominations.

Beyoncé was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Trending Video for her blockbuster song “Texas Hold ‘Em,” the lead single from her current album Cowboy Carter.* Despite missing the VMAs, her record has been a global hit, solidifying her music business power.

Beyoncé’s third nomination was for **Most Iconic Performance** for “Love on Top.”* Despite not releasing music videos for her newest album, *”Cowboy Carter,”* she received these astounding accolades, demonstrating her lasting power and music’s impact.

The official Texas Hold ‘Em lyric video was released by Beyoncé. Bold red capital letters depict the words in the basic but powerful video. Despite no music video, the song’s backdrop of a structure, barbed wire, and satellite dish gives it a gritty, atmospheric air.

At the VMAs, *”Texas Hold ‘Em”* competed with other critically recognized songs by top entertainers. Beyoncé’s tune received nominations in major categories against strong competition.

Beyoncé competed for the **Song of the Year** award with Taylor Swift and Post Malone for “Fortnight,” Kendrick Lamar for “Not Like Us,” Teddy Swims for “Lose Control,” Jack Harlow for “Lovin On Me,” and Sabrina Carpenter for “Espresso.” These stars, each with highly acclaimed songs, made the award competition tough.

Not for the first time, Beyoncé missed the VMAs to celebrate her nominations, which were won by other artists. Longtime admirers expected her absence from the VMAs this year because she last went in 2016.

Beyoncé spoke to *GQ* on her career and becoming a global superstar before the 2024 VMAs. She gave followers a rare glimpse into the pressures and joys of her life as a global icon in the interview.

Beyoncé was asked about her perfectionist reputation, which is evident in her songs and documentaries like “Homecoming” and “Renaissance.” She explained how her perfectionist nature affects her creative process and project standards.

Asking Beyoncé if her perfectionist reputation makes her feel trapped or burdened. Has the pressure to maintain high standards ever felt overwhelming?

Beyonce responded, “Working on the music for *‘Cowboy Carter’* and launching this new project don’t feel like a prison or a burden at all. I just focus on what inspires and frees me.”

Fame may feel like a jail, Beyoncé said. She said, “So, when you don’t see me on red carpets or when I take a break until I have new art to share, that’s why.”

The beloved singer, who held the Guinness World Record for most MTV Video Music Awards (30) between 2000 and 2021, discussed her creative approach. She works at her own speed and hopes her music inspires listeners to reflect on themselves and grow in resilience, strength, and creativity.

In the interview, Beyoncé said, “I focus on storytelling, growth, and quality. I don’t worry about perfection. I prioritize evolution, innovation, and perception change.”
