    Nancy Olson was born on July 14, 1928, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she grew up in a supportive family that encouraged her academic and artistic pursuits. Nancy attended the University of Wisconsin, studying English literature and showing an early inclination towards the arts and humanities.

    Her Hollywood career began in the late 1940s when she signed a contract with Paramount Pictures. She quickly made a name for herself with her debut role in “Sunset Boulevard” (1950), portraying the character Betty Schaefer. Her performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, cementing her place in Hollywood history.

    Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Nancy Olson starred in several notable films, including “Union Station” (1950), “Big Jim McLain” (1952), and Disney’s “The Absent-Minded Professor” (1961).     Nancy married lyricist Alan Jay Lerner in 1950, and they had two daughters before their divorce in 1957. She later married businessman Alan W. Livingston, with whom she had another daughter.
