Reba, Garth, Carrie, Vince Gill, Trisha, Lady A, and over 50 Grand Ole Opry icons quietly returned to the stage—not for an encore, not for applause, but for something heartbreakingly real. In complete silence, they locked arms and sang “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” dedicating the soul-stirring harmony to the victims of the devastating Texas flood. No lights. No cameras. Just tears, raw voices, and a single candle glowing at center stage. Audience members were seen openly weeping, whispering, “This wasn’t a performance… it was a prayer.”

Co-host of ‘The View’ triggers Matthew McConaughey, his reply is very unexpected

Matt McConaughey, who is a strong supporter of “responsible gun ownership,” told Joy Behar of The View that she couldn’t ask him about Texas’s anti-gun laws.

After giving the co-host a foot rub, she asked the 54-year-old sex symbol what he thought about guns, which made him say something very strong.

The shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, in May 2022 was very close to home for Matthew McConaughey, 54, who was born and raised in the city.

An 18-year-old former student at Robb Elementary School killed 19 students and two teachers. After the killings, McConaughey went to the White House for a meeting and begged people to “renegotiate our wants from our needs.”

“We need people to take responsibility and do background checks.” The age requirement to buy an AR-15 firearm should be raised to 21. There needs to be a wait time for those weapons. He said, “We need red flag laws and consequences for people who break them. These are reasonable, practical, and tactical rules.”

“Responsible gun owners are fed up with the Second Amendment being abused and hijacked by some crazy people,” the Oscar-winning actor says.

Since then, McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves have started the Greenlights Grant Initiative. The website says that it “makes schools safer and ensures the well-being of our children.”

Not “all right, all right, all right”
McConaughey went on The View in the fall of 2023 to promote his kids’ book “Just Because.”

The man from Texas talked about his book and his three kids while taking questions from the other speakers and massaging co-host Joy Behar’s feet.

Sunny Hostin then changed the subject and praised McConaughey for being “so outspoken against violence, and gun violence in particular.”

“In 2021, you thought about running for governor of Texas but decided to spend more time with your family instead.” Do you think you’ll be running for office someday?” Hostin asked the man, who had thought about running for governor of his home state two years before.

The Ghosts of Ex-Flirts “If that’s where I think I can be most useful, yes,” answered the past star. I want to be most helpful as a dad right now.

The host then went back to the subject, which seemed to touch a nerve with the Dallas Buyers Club star. The argument got heated in the video that is now going viral.

“Do you think you could get elected in Texas being anti-gun?” Behar asked to keep the conversation going about politics and guns.

McConaughey told her again, “One thing about me and politics, to give you a direct statement right there, is I’m playing a game.” He then shook her hand and said, “I’m not interested in playing.” He still sounded like a gentleman.

The host said, “Okay, don’t do it.”

“I did want to say that I’ve done a lot of research in terms of your advocacy, and I don’t know that you’re anti-gun. I think you’re pro-gun responsibility and legislation,” Hostin said after the break.
