Kevin Costner has been navigating through a challenging period marked by a messy divorce and his departure from the popular series “Yellowstone.” However, amidst these tumultuous times, the legendary actor has found solace in his latest project, the western epic “Horizon: An American Saga,” which he recently wrapped up filming in St. George, Utah.

This new movie is a significant undertaking for Costner, as he not only stars in it but also takes on the roles of writer and director. The scenic beauty of southern Utah has clearly left its mark on the 69-year-old actor, inspiring him to establish a lasting presence in the region by creating a new film studio.

Last year, Costner expressed his appreciation for Utah’s natural beauty, describing it as the perfect backdrop for “Horizon” and emphasizing its role as a character in the story. Now, he’s taking his connection to the area a step further by announcing plans to open Territory Studios on land adjacent to the St. George Airport.

While Costner himself has not publicly confirmed this development, the news was revealed during St. George Mayor Michele Randall’s State of the City address. According to reports from Fox 13, the studio will encompass 70,000 square feet of sound stages, 51,000 square feet of production warehouses, and 31,750 square feet of production offices.

This ambitious project is not just about building a studio; it’s about creating a comprehensive entertainment hub. In addition to the essential facilities for film production, the studio will also feature a Costner-themed restaurant and offer guided tours of various sets, adding an exciting dimension to the visitor experience.

By choosing to establish a film studio in southern Utah, Costner not only showcases his personal affinity for the region but also recognizes its potential for growth and development in the entertainment industry. The addition of a Costner-themed restaurant and guided tours will not only generate job opportunities but also attract visitors from far and wide, boosting the local economy.

Costner’s commitment to southern Utah underscores the region’s beauty and potential, and his studio is poised to make a positive impact on the community, both culturally and economically. It’s an exciting venture that we eagerly anticipate seeing come to fruition.
