Reba, Garth, Carrie, Vince Gill, Trisha, Lady A, and over 50 Grand Ole Opry icons quietly returned to the stage—not for an encore, not for applause, but for something heartbreakingly real. In complete silence, they locked arms and sang “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” dedicating the soul-stirring harmony to the victims of the devastating Texas flood. No lights. No cameras. Just tears, raw voices, and a single candle glowing at center stage. Audience members were seen openly weeping, whispering, “This wasn’t a performance… it was a prayer.”

Nicki Minaj slams the Grammys for putting ‘Super Freaky Girl’ in a pop category: It’s not fair

“Let’s make sure it’s fair,” she reassured. I still manage to out-rap even when I’m rapping on a pop track.

After learning that her song “Super Freaky Girl” was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2023 Grammys, Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to criticize the ceremony.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the song was reclassified from rap to pop after being filed by Minaj to the Recording Academy’s rap committee.

Minaj reacted angrily to the decision on an Instagram Live that has since been added to her account. She said: “‘Super Freaky Girl,’ where I only rapped on the song, was removed from the rap categories at the Grammys and put in pop.”

She mentioned that “Hotline Bling” by Drake was named Best Rap Song and Best Rap Sung [Performance] at the 2016 awards, despite the fact that Drake had previously stated that the song did not belong in the rap genre. Drake had stated, “I’m a Black artist, I’m apparently a rapper, even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song.”

“So, hypothetically speaking, ‘Super Freaky Girl’ is a pop song,” Minaj went on to remark. We can just state that. What exactly is the “Big Energy” that [Latto] refers to? … If you were to reclassify “Super Freaky Girl” from rap to pop, you would also need to reclassify “Big Energy” to pop. Incidentally, the producers for both songs are the same. Alright, then, let’s play fair. If I’m rapping on a pop song, I still manage to out-rap the artist.

Never forget that in 2020, when she had seven singles on Billboard at the same time and a bigger debut week than any female rapper in the past decade—went on to inspire a generation—the Grammys still didn’t give her the best new artist award, as she tweeted. They handed it up to Bon Iver, a white man.

Voting has begun for next year’s awards, which have received their nominations. Included in the notable entries is “Red (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift, which was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Country Album eight years after the original “Red” album was nominated and lost.

This is Beyoncé’s first year submitting to dance/electronic awards; her album “Renaissance” is up for Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Album, while her song “Break My Soul” is nominated for Song of the Year, Recording of the Year, and Best Dance/Electronic Recording.
