Malia Obama, 25, Makes 1st-Ever Red Carpet Appearance, Igniting Mixed Reactions About Her Comfy Outfit

Sundance was Malia Obama’s first red carpet appearance, and the publicity it garnered was enough to make a lasting impression on the fashion and film industries.

It was during the premiere of “The Heart” that Malia Obama made her red carpet debut. Her one-of-a-kind style was on display during her January 18, 2024, presentation at the Sundance Film Festival.

She radiated easy elegance with her long, baggy gray coat and casual striped blue shirt. Dark knee-high boots completed her casually elegant ensemble.

Many people have expressed their opinions about the young woman’s look on the internet. Some were complimentary of Malia’s distinctive sense of style, writing things like “love her style” or mentioning her “classy look,” while others were less than complimentary, even going so far as to imply that she “needs a wardrobe consultant.”

One bystander said, “Dressed like this for the red carpet?,” describing her criticism of the appearance. Overly tacky. One user chose the adjective “thrifty” to describe her plain gray coat. An observer has noted that Malia’s style is very “indie” inspired.

Making her debut on the red carpet was a huge deal for Malia, marking the beginning of her meteoric rise to stardom in Hollywood. With her position in the writers’ room for Donald Glover’s new Amazon series, she has already made a name for herself at the young age of 25.

Celebrity and critic Glover has praised Malia, calling her a “amazingly talented person.” She began her career in Hollywood as an intern and later worked her way up to production assistant.

According to the writers, Malia is just a “regular person like everybody else” despite her famous family and career. She has come a long way on her path to stardom in Hollywood.

“Swarm,” a Prime Video series created by Donald Glover, was her first credit as a writer. Malia has a promising and original literary style, as Glover has said of her.
