Ricky Schroder, once a renowned child star from the 1980s, has resurfaced with a new mission – advocating for social and political causes close to his heart. In response to COVID-19 restrictions, Schroder has been vocal about personal freedom, and now he has taken a significant step by establishing the Reel American Heroes Foundation.
Best known for his roles in “The Champ” (1979) and “Silver Spoons,” Schroder’s foundation is dedicated to honoring veterans and first responders. The Reel American Heroes Foundation aims to tell inspiring stories of American heroes who have served as veterans and first responders, with the goal of inspiring the next generation.
Describing his foundation as a ‘patriotic PBS,’ Schroder intends to counteract negative portrayals in mainstream media and Hollywood. The foundation’s mission is to present films, documentaries, TV series, and public service announcements highlighting the courage and valor of veterans, active soldiers, first responders, and Gold Star families.
Schroder emphasizes the need for a constructive vision for the collective future and believes that storytelling, deeply rooted in shared history, can inspire the world. The foundation plans to collaborate with an experienced team of creatives with over 100 years of combined experience in crafting, producing, and directing various media forms, ensuring the success of their mission.
After being out of the limelight for a while, Schroder has returned to his creative roots, using his platform to promote positive narratives and honor those who have served the country as heroes.
