Page Six can confirm that Tom Cruise remains estranged from his daughter, Suri Cruise. A source revealed exclusively that the “Mission: Impossible” star, aged 60, has not seen his 16-year-old daughter in a significant amount of time and is not currently part of her life.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, now 44, welcomed Suri in April 2006. However, after the couple’s split in 2011, the father-daughter relationship gradually weakened. In 2012, during a defamation lawsuit against Bauer Media, Cruise admitted to not seeing Suri for three months after his separation from Holmes. He acknowledged that divorce changes things and is not an ideal situation.
Cruise also indicated in the lawsuit that Scientology played a role in the separation from his daughter. Asked if Holmes left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology,” Cruise responded affirmatively. Scientology was again implicated in 2016 for keeping Cruise and Suri apart due to the church’s prohibition on association with nonbelievers.
Leah Remini, a former Scientologist, suggested that Scientology views Holmes as a “suppressive person,” an enemy, making it difficult for Cruise to have a relationship with Suri. Remini speculated that Cruise’s plan might be to wait until Suri is older to try to lure her into Scientology away from her mother.
Despite the drama involving her father, Suri appears to live a relatively normal life with her mom in New York City. Over the years, she has been photographed casually strolling in the Big Apple and spending time with friends. In 2017, Holmes expressed the importance of providing her daughter with a stable childhood, emphasizing her commitment to being present for Suri.
Holmes’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment. Similarly, representatives for Tom Cruise did not provide an immediate response.
