Embracing Aging: Paulina Porizkova’s Candid Views on Growing Older
A Model’s Perspective on Aging
Aging is an inevitable part of life, and while some people turn to plastic surgery to halt the process, others choose to embrace it. Paulina Porizkova, a Czech model who has graced runways for years, is one such person. At 57, she is candid about aging and avoids injectables, believing that “faces are for communicating.”
Breaking Stereotypes
Paulina began her modeling career at the young age of 13 and achieved immense success. However, she admits to feeling frustrated at times, likening herself to “an apple in a still life” that only had to “look pretty.” She is grateful for the opportunities she has had but feels that the modeling industry needs to change its views on ageism.
In an interview with People, Paulina said, “I felt ashamed to be aging, and then on the other hand, you go: ‘But I’m smarter, I’m better, I’m funnier, I’m more patient!’ Overall as a person, I’m the best I’ve ever been.”
Defying Societal Expectations
Despite her age, Paulina continues to pose in bikinis and share photos on social media. She believes that middle-aged women should not be denied the right to wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Even though she sometimes receives negative comments, she remains undeterred and insists that no one should dismiss her or others her age just because they have wrinkles, sagging skin, or grey hair.
Choosing Noninvasive Treatments
Rather than resorting to plastic surgery or injectables, Paulina opts for noninvasive treatments to maintain her appearance. She told WWD, “I just want a little subtle help. I don’t want any drastic stuff. I don’t want to eliminate my age. I just want to look as good as I can given the limitations.” Her goal is to be “an unaltered older woman” and appreciates that her face, at 57, reflects the history of her life like a “really good novel.”
Aging Gracefully
Paulina Porizkova serves as an inspiration to many by loving the process of aging gracefully and encouraging others to accept it as well. Share this article with your family and friends on Facebook to spread her empowering message.
