The puppy arrived in a cardboard box one Thursday afternoon.
He was a black-and-tan German Shepherd with oversized paws, enormous ears, and solemn brown eyes.
Lorraine lifted him carefully.
“Oh, Henry. He looks like a little bear.”
The puppy licked her chin.
“Bear,” she said.
Henry smiled.
