Hiring Megan to look after our one-year-old son felt like one of the best decisions my husband, Ryan, and I had ever made.
She seemed almost too good to be true.
Megan was always punctual, attentive, and patient. Throughout the day, she sent us pictures of our little boy smiling, playing with his toys, or sitting happily in his high chair. By the time I returned from work, the house was usually cleaner than when I had left.
Most importantly, our son adored her.
Seeing him smile whenever Megan arrived made the guilt of leaving him each morning easier to handle. Still, there was one thing that occasionally bothered me.
Some evenings, our son seemed unusually tired.

Unfortunately, the microphone wasn’t working properly, so we could never hear him.
Then, one Thursday afternoon, Andre delivered two packages.
The camera showed him setting them beside our front door before turning to leave.
Suddenly, he stopped.
Andre stared toward the trash cans beside our house for several seconds. Then he hurried back toward the porch.
He grabbed a discarded piece of cardboard and found a marker. After quickly writing something, he stepped directly in front of the camera and held up his makeshift sign.
Four words were written across it:
“CHECK YOUR TRASH CAN.” Continue Reading ⬇️
