Epilogue: His Final Act of Protection

Rachel eventually moved into her own apartment.

We kept the family house inside the trust and agreed to use it as Dad intended—a shared place that neither of us could control through pressure, anger, or greed.

Our relationship did not return to normal overnight.

Some wounds needed time, honest conversations, and distance before they could begin healing. But Rachel gradually stopped treating the inheritance like a competition, and I stopped confusing peace with surrender.

Dad’s watch was never worth much money.

It did not contain diamonds, unlock a hidden vault, or lead to a secret fortune.

Its true value was the protection connected to it.

My father had seen the danger long before I did. He knew Rachel might try to take control, and he knew I might be tempted to step aside without defending myself.
