Jason Aldean is opening a new chapter in his career by recording his first-ever duet with wife Brittany Aldean. The song, titled “Easier Gone,” will appear on his upcoming album Songs About Us.
In a recent interview with Nashville Lifestyles, Aldean explained why he waited years before collaborating musically with his wife. Rather than rushing the moment, he wanted the timing—and the song—to feel right. “We’ve talked about doing something together for a long time,” he shared, “but it had to be the right song and the right moment.”
That moment came with “Easier Gone,” written by Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood, Jimmy Robbins, and Josh Kerr. Aldean said the track immediately stood out to him, noting that Kelley has a rare ability to make even simple lyrics feel powerful.
Although Brittany previously appeared on American Idol, she’s never pursued a professional singing career. Aldean admitted she was nervous stepping into the studio for the first time. “The first day was about learning how everything works,” he said. “By the second day, she knew what to expect—and that’s when the magic happened.”
He recalled how overwhelmed she initially felt, describing her nerves as she adjusted to the recording process. But once she settled in, Aldean said she delivered a standout performance. “I wouldn’t have asked her to do this unless I knew the song was right for her,” he explained. “I told her, ‘If I say it’s good, trust me.’ And it really turned out amazing.”
“Easier Gone” will be released on January 9, alongside two additional new tracks, “Her Favorite Color” and “What’s A Little Heartache.” All three songs will appear on Songs About Us, a 20-track album produced by Michael Knox and set for release on April 24 via Broken Bow Records. The project also features collaborations with Luke Bryan and David Lee Murphy.
Aldean says the album reflects real-life experiences shared by many listeners. “These songs come from real stories—the highs, the lows, and everything in between,” he said. “That’s when I realized this album isn’t just about me. It’s about all of us.”
Fans will get an early preview of the new material when Aldean headlines Nashville Lifestyles’ Music in the City event on January 20 at Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar. He’ll also take the album on the road as part of his extended 2026 Full Throttle World Tour.
