Carrie Underwood gave her home church a Christmas surprise over the weekend, appearing without warning to sing during Rolling Hills Community Church’s annual Sounds of Christmas program in Franklin, Tennessee.
Worshippers were stunned when the country superstar stepped onto the stage, backed by the church band, to perform beautiful renditions of “O Holy Night” and “All Is Well.”
Underwood is no stranger to Christmas music. Her 2020 holiday album My Gift features eight classic carols and three originals, including a special version of “Little Drummer Boy” recorded with her son Isaiah. She has also taken part in several televised Christmas specials, performing beloved songs such as “Mary, Did You Know?,” “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”
This isn’t the first time Underwood has shown up at her church unannounced. When she’s not touring or working on American Idol, the Oklahoma native is home in Tennessee and attends services regularly. Every so often, she blesses the congregation with a surprise performance. Earlier this year, she sang “Pour Your Spirit Out” during a Sunday service, and in August 2024 she helped lead worship with “Goodness of God.” She also appeared at last year’s Christmas program.
For this year’s event, churchgoers captured video of Underwood wearing a long dark dress with sparkles and a tulle skirt, looking elegant as she delivered both songs with her signature vocal power. Fans quickly flooded comment sections with praise:
“she never disappoints.”
