Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert Make CMA History with First-Ever Duet Performance!

Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert Deliver a Vintage-Inspired CMA Moment With Their First-Ever Recorded Duet

The 59th Annual CMA Awards were packed with unforgettable performances, but one of the night’s most anticipated moments came when Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert stepped onto the stage together. Although the two icons have collaborated before, this year marked a major milestone: their first-ever recorded duet, “A Song To Sing.”

Released earlier this year, the track has already made waves across the industry, earning two Grammy nominations — Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song. Its warm, nostalgic sound was inspired by one of the most legendary duets in music history: Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ “Islands in the Stream.” And for their CMA performance, Chris and Miranda leaned fully into that ’70s spirit.

Under a shimmering wash of lights, the stage transformed into a retro dreamscape filled with glowing disco balls and soft, hazy colors. Both artists wore era-appropriate suits, channeling the look—and the magic—of the decade that inspired their song. From the first note, the atmosphere felt cinematic, soulful, and unmistakably timeless.

A Milestone Night for Both Artists

The performance carried even deeper meaning because 2025 marks two major anniversaries in their careers.

For Miranda Lambert, it has been 20 years since she made her CMA debut with “Kerosene,” the breakout performance that launched her into country music superstardom. In the years that followed, she became a seven-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year and joined the elite group of women who have won Entertainer of the Year.

For Chris Stapleton, 2025 marks a decade since his explosive breakthrough at the CMAs, when he achieved a rare Triple Crown in a single night — New Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Album of the Year. It was also ten years ago that he and Justin Timberlake delivered the electrifying “Tennessee Whiskey” / “Drink You Away” performance still considered one of the greatest moments in CMA history.

Since then, Stapleton has added more than a dozen CMA trophies to his name. This year, he returned once again as a top contender, nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year and the night’s biggest honor, Entertainer of the Year.

A Performance Fans Will Rewatch for Years

When Chris and Miranda blended their voices on the CMA stage, the chemistry was undeniable. Their harmonies were rich and smoky, their delivery heartfelt, and the retro aesthetic created a warm, nostalgic glow that made the entire arena feel suspended in time.

It wasn’t just a performance — it was a celebration of two extraordinary careers, a tribute to classic country duets, and a defining moment of the night.

Fans called it “mesmerizing,” “pure magic,” and “a CMA classic in the making.”
