    • More than half a century later, Neil Diamond himself was left speechless when he heard his songs playing in Song Sung Blue. He entered the screening room simply to observe, but gradually began tapping his foot to the rhythm of each song, applauding after each performance, and finally shedding tears. The most shocking moment came when he turned and asked, “When will it be shown again?” It wasn’t a loud, boisterous compliment, but the genuine reaction of a legend realizing that the music he wrote was still alive. And that’s what silenced the entire room.
    • “THEY SHOUTED ‘HE’S GOT A GUN’ — AND THEN TWO FEDERAL GUNS EXPLODED IN THE STRUGGLE.” In a chilling flash on a Minneapolis street, what began as a confrontation quickly spiraled into a violent clash that left a man dead and the nation shaken. George Strait’s Son Bubba Proves Talent Runs in the Family

Country legend George Strait isn’t the only one in his family with musical chops. His son, George “Bubba” Strait Jr., may not live life in the spotlight like his dad, but he’s been making his mark behind the scenes as a songwriter.

Bubba earned co-writing credits on Strait’s 2009 Billboard #1 country album Twang, including the hit single “Living for the Night.” He also co-wrote fan favorites like “Out of Sight, Out of Mind,” “Arkansas Dave,” and “He’s Got That Something Special.” Strait’s longtime collaborator Dean Dillon also had a hand in shaping the record, but Bubba’s contributions made the project even more personal.

Two years later, Bubba returned for Strait’s chart-topping 2011 album Here for a Good Time, co-writing the title track as well as “Drinkin’ Man,” “Shame on Me,” “House Across the Bay,” “Three Nails and a Cross,” “Blue Marlin Blues,” and “I’ll Always Remember You.”

Bubba has since continued working closely with his father, co-writing much of the material on Strait’s 2019 album Honky Tonk Time Machine. Fans even got to see father and son perform “Arkansas Dave” together during the 2014 CMT concert special George Strait: The Cowboy Rides Away, filmed at Strait’s final tour stop in Arlington, Texas.

But Bubba’s talents don’t stop at music. He’s also an accomplished athlete, having competed as a team roper with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, including at the 2006 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Looks like in the Strait family, it’s not just about carrying on a country music legacy—it’s about cowboy grit too.
