Morgan Wallen is turning the page after last year’s headline-making arrest at Chief’s on Broadway. But not before one final blowout on his much-awaited I’m The Problem Tour, named after his latest album. At Saturday’s (June 28) show in Madison, Wisconsin, Wallen surprised the crowd by bringing out rising country star Ella Langley for a duet.
Ella Langley Steps In for Tate McRae on “What I Want”
Fans at Camp Randall Stadium were buzzing when Langley joined Wallen onstage to perform “What I Want,” a track off I’m The Problem. She stepped in for Tate McRae, who originally recorded the song’s female vocals. Many fans watching the performance felt Langley was a perfect fit—some even suggested she should’ve been the original collaborator. One TikTok user wrote, “I still feel like we got robbed.”

A First for Wallen—And a Big Moment for McRae
While Langley brought powerful energy to the live version, the album version features Tate McRae—Wallen’s first-ever female duet partner. McRae, known for her hit “Greedy,” was a deliberate and carefully chosen collaborator.
“The song wasn’t even written for a female voice,” Wallen shared in an interview with Apple Music. “I was thinking, what track could work for Tate? This was the only one we sent her—and she crushed it.”
He went on to praise her vocal talent: “She’s underrated. The range she showed, singing a song written for a guy, was incredible. I can’t say enough good things about her.”
