Robert Irwin Is the First Star Announced for Dancing With the Stars Season 34

Crikey! Things are about to get wild on the dance floor.

ABC has officially confirmed the return of Dancing With the Stars for its 34th season this fall, and the first celebrity contestant has been announced: Robert Irwin, the 21-year-old son of the legendary Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin.

Following in the glittery footsteps of his sister Bindi Irwin—who won Season 21 of the show in 2015 alongside pro dancer (and current judge) Derek Hough—Robert is now ready to take his own shot at the Mirrorball Trophy.

While his professional dance partner and the full cast of Season 34 have yet to be revealed, Robert’s participation is already creating buzz.

Like his late father, Robert is a passionate wildlife conservationist and television personality. He currently co-hosts Australia’s version of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, and previously starred on the family reality show Crikey! It’s the Irwins from 2018 to 2022 with his mom Terri and sister Bindi.

Robert has also worked extensively at the Australia Zoo and hosted Robert’s Real Life Adventures for the zoo’s internal network. He fronted the Discovery Kids Channel show Wild But True, and co-created a children’s book series called Robert Irwin: Dinosaur Hunter.

In the U.S., he’s become a familiar face on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, appearing 11 times—often accompanied by an array of fascinating wildlife.

More details, including the premiere date and full cast list, are still under wraps. Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars will air simultaneously on ABC and Disney+, continuing the format introduced in 2023.

    Let the wild rumpus begin!
