Tiger Woods Announces Achilles Tendon Injury and Surgery, Raising Concerns for His Career
Just one month after the loss of his mother, 49-year-old golf legend Tiger Woods has shared another health setback, sparking concerns about his future in the sport.

On March 11, 2025, Tiger Woods revealed via Channel X that he had torn his left Achilles tendon during training, requiring surgery in Florida. Dr. Charlton Stucken performed the minimally invasive surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach. The procedure was successful, and Dr. Stucken assured that Tiger is expected to make a full recovery.

Tiger, recovering at home, expressed his gratitude toward his fans for their unwavering support during this challenging time, focusing now on his rehabilitation.

As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured.

    Reactions from the Golf World
The announcement of Tiger’s latest injury has caused a strong response from analysts and former players on Channel X.

Arron Oberholtzer, a former professional golfer and current analyst, shared his concern: “This is unrealistic. How much more can an athlete endure? It’s just cruel.”

Golf journalist Dan Rapaport echoed the sentiment, saying, “A ruptured Achilles tendon is a nightmare. I’m truly saddened.”

Nick Leach, another former golfer, stated, “As much as I admire Tiger and how much he influenced my own approach to the game, it may be time for him to call it a career.”

ESPN football analyst Booger McFarland also commented, saying, “It’s not our place to tell him what to do, but I hope he’s had enough. He’s been through a lot. Spend time with your kids. We’ll always treasure his 82 victories, and in the eyes of many, he is the greatest player to ever play the game.”

    A Series of Injuries
This latest injury comes after Tiger underwent microdecompression surgery in September 2024 to relieve a pinched nerve in his lower back. The procedure was performed by Dr. Shiraz Qureshi at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

At the time, Tiger shared on Channel X, “The surgery went smoothly, and I hope it will help with the back cramps and pain I’ve been experiencing throughout the 2024 season.” He also expressed his eagerness to begin rehabilitation and return to his normal activities, particularly golf.

Tiger Woods’ health issues have raised questions about his future in the sport, but with his resilience and support from fans and colleagues, the golfing world continues to hold out hope for his recovery.
