Dad surprises disabled girl who slips behind without a prom date by taking her to prom. The next day’s reward for his affection for his child changes their life.

“Look, Molly! Your dad’s here!” the 17-year-old daughter mourning her mother Daisy’s casket was told by a funeral worker.

Molly’s parents, Danny and Mary, divorced twelve years prior. Molly only heard bad things about her father since then, that he was a ‘drunkard’

Despite not being furious toward Danny, Molly missed their father-daughter relationship. Molly’s life will change after her mother’s funeral.

“Hi, sweetheart!” Danny hugged his daughter before wreathing his ex-wife’s coffin.

Sir, is that truck yours? It blocks half the parking. Mind relocating it? A guest asked truck driver Danny.

“That’s my truck. Wait a moment. Just met my daughter. I hope you understand. Thank you!”

Danny loved meeting Molly. Only his child support kept him in touch with her for years. Daisy never let him see Molly for fear he would be a bad influence.

The funeral ended, and everyone went. Danny packed Molly’s bags and invited her to his residence.

“A parcel? He wondered who sent it. It stated “For Dad of the Year” on the card.
But why, dad? I can’t leave home. Mom and I lived here. It holds our memories.”

Danny didn’t listen, so Molly frowned. He couldn’t leave his daughter alone, especially since she used a wheelchair when she didn’t need crutches. Molly limped due to a six-year-old left leg problem.

After two days, Molly moved in with her dad. The little, messy house comforted her and made her feel loved and included.

Danny had trouble helping Molly as time went on. Since he never watched her grow up, he couldn’t braid her hair or do most things. He watched online videos to learn. There was more.

So Molly could sleep comfortably, he gave up his bedroom. To help her sleep, he bought a soft bed. Danny did everything to make his daughter feel at home, but he kept his nighttime disappearance a secret.

Molly had no idea where her dad went when she fell asleep. As her mother often told her, she assumed dad was in the pub with his pals.

A few days later, Molly cried as she exited the school bus and entered their home. She found the door locked. A note was hidden under a plant. Under the pot are the keys. I’ll return soon. See you! – Dad.”

Molly frowned as she remembered her mother telling her about her dad’s weird nightly routines. Perhaps her father was drinking at four in the afternoon, she frowned.

After hours, Danny never returned home. Molly made pasta and gave her dad some. In tears, she rested on her bed.

I’d be less unusual if I were normal. I would have found a prom date.”

Molly’s teacher told them about the senior prom. All her classmates except Molly had prom dates. Nobody wanted her. She thought—who wants to dance with a limp?

As soon as Danny got home, he heard Molly crying loudly.

“What happened, darling? “Why are you crying?”

Molly informed him of the prom. “No date. When I asked other boys to dance with me at prom, they laughed and refused. Do not take me to the prom, dad! I desire solitude! Goodnight!”

Molly feigned to sleep with tears on her pillow, ignoring Danny.

Danny couldn’t abandon his daughter. The next day, dad got Molly a lovely prom outfit. Molly had a tremendous tearful surprise on prom day. Dad was taking her to prom.

An motor screeched as senior students and their parents gathered outside the hall.

Danny jumped off the truck. A wheelchair was placed on the lawn and Molly was helped out. The audience marveled as he pushed the wheelchair on the red carpet.

Danny danced with his daughter to the music. He carried Molly in circles, synchronizing with the music. As her dad swayed her, Molly forgot her disabilities and laughed heartily.

“My dad is my superhero. I love him above anything else. I’m blessed and pleased to be his daughter, Molly told her friends after the dance.

Meanwhile, Danny stole the spotlight. All the parents surrounded him to applaud. Danny then introduced himself and his daughter, unaware of how that evening would transform their lives.

They talked about their enjoyment when Danny and Molly got home. Danny left the home quietly after putting Molly to rest in her bedroom.

Danny worked a second job as a nursing home caregiver. Beyond his part-time truck driving job, he worked extra to save for his daughter’s therapy. Danny and Daisy were told Molly would never walk after her handicap was detected years ago.

One doctor promised to heal the girl and restore her mobility. Danny stopped drinking at pubs with pals and started working two jobs.

Daisy misinterpreted him as spending time at the pub. Danny attempted to explain, but she never believed him. Soon after, her misgivings and fierce arguments ended their relationship. Danny was too intent on saving money for Molly’s surgery to care and worked hard for years.

Danny felt pain recalling his history. The horrific things his ex-wife told him haunted him that night as he drove to work. He went home after his shift, unprepared for the surprise for him and Molly.

Danny was surprised to find a parcel in his mailbox when he got home from work.

“A parcel?? So who sent it? he wondered. The card read “Dad of the Year!”

Danny found a $10,000 check and message inside.

“Dear Danny, we hope this helps your daughter. Congratulations on her surgery, and we hope you spend more evenings with her. Happy prom, friends!

Danny realized the parents he met last night were responsible. He cried and told Molly the wonderful news.

“Really?! Oh my god, dad…This is crazy!” She cried and laughed on his shoulders.

Danny’s savings plus the $10,000 payment paid for Molly’s surgery. She eventually walked without crutches.

Danny abandoned his second job to spend more time with his kid. She was leaving in three months on a scholarship to study architecture in another state.

Danny wanted to maximize his time with Molly. He taught her to cook, dance, bike, and run. He wanted his daughter to live normally and never look back at her wheelchair and crutches.

What can this story teach us?

Parenting is the strongest love. Danny went the extra mile for his daughter. He worked two jobs to save for her operation and took her to prom without a boyfriend.
Fathers are always superheroes to their kids. Danny kept trying to get his daughter to walk again even though everyone said she couldn’t. She found her superman and her motivation in him.
Tell your friends about this. It may inspire and cheer them up.
