Princes William and Harry, estranged by years of distance and duty, reunited for the first and only time this year—not for diplomacy, but for love. It was their mother’s 63rd birthday, and they chose to honor her not with speeches or ceremony, but with something far more personal: silence, song, and memory. Inside a quiet London hotel suite, with only a piano and a flickering candle between them, the brothers shared stories, laughter, and finally, a trembling duet of the song they once sang for Diana as children. Christina Applegate, known for her roles in Anchorman and Dead to Me, received a standing ovation at the 75th annual Emmy Awards, despite her battle with multiple sclerosis. She presented two awards, aided by a cane, and was celebrated by attendees.

The Los Angeles crowd at the Peacock Theater stood up as the actress approached the stage to accept her award.

Applegate was profoundly affected by the emotionally charged moment.

It means the world to me. “My goodness!” “Oh,” she exclaimed.

“Just by standing up, you’re humiliating me and my disability.”

“Some of you may know me as Kelly Bundy from Married with Children,” she continued. No need to clap every time I accomplish anything.

At the end of her address, the Bad Moms star told the crowd, “I’m going to cry more than I’ve been crying.”

Fans watching from home were understandably moved by Christina’s reaction and the overall admiration for a remarkable woman who has been through a lot recently.

“I am already in tears over the standing ovation for Christina Applegate,” one fan commented.

Someone else peddled their adoration for Christina Applegate. She has a natural gift for comedy and is, and always has been, stunningly beautiful. She zings here like a firestorm.

Something about Christina Applegate’s performance was quite touching, according to a third commenter.

Took a random 4-o’clock wake-up call and immediately viewed the video of Christina Applegate’s standing ovation. After this, one more will have to weep myself to sleep, one more confessed.

Randomly woke up at 4:30am and straight away saw that clip of the huge ovation for Christina Applegate. And now I’m going to have to cry myself back to sleep. #TheEmmys pic.twitter.com/JGjwKqvfrd

Applegate first came up with her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2021, and she finally came clean last year about how the disease will probably prevent her from acting in any future screen roles.

For her, “with the disease of MS, it’s never a good day” (Vanity Fair, quoted). You are no longer able to descend the stairs while carrying anything. “It stinks.”

“I won’t be doing any more work on camera,” she concluded.

“Going to set at this moment is just not even possible for me. This illness worsens with time. Am I going to get worse? I have no idea. In order to provide for my family and keep my mind active, I can do voiceover work.
